Quality Instruction

Sensei Chris McCormac is the founder and owner of New Visions Martial Arts. Mr. McCormac has trained in the martial arts for 18 years and has 12 years of teaching experience in Wado-Ryu Karate. Mr. McCormac began his martial arts training when he was 7-years-old and six years later in 1997 achieved the 1st Dan Black Belt. His instruction was at David Deaton Karate Studios under the watchful eye of Master Instructor Wayne Tyler(7th Dan). In 1999 he advanced to 2nd Dan at the age of 15. By 2001, Mr. McCormac was teaching part time for Master Instructor David Deaton. In June 2003 he advanced again to 3rd Dan, while teaching full time and attending college at Middle Tennessee State University.  In July 2009 he achieved the rank of 4th Dan under long time Master Instructors David Deaton and Wayne Tyler.

Mr. McCormac started college in the fall of 2002 and soon after began focusing on Entrepreneurship and Business Management. Mr. McCormac graduated in May 2008 from Jennings A. Jones College of Business at MTSU with a B.S.B.A in Business with an emphasis in Entrepreneurship.

Mr. McCormac was fortunate to study abroad in Japan and be a part of the Jennings A. Jones College of Business field and culture study of Japan under the direction of Dr. Kiyoshi Kawahito, his  Economics and Finance professor. While in Japan he had many opportunities that took him to Osaka, Hiroshima, Nara, Kyoto, Tokyo, and Fukushima. Mr. McCormac was also privileged to visit the Wado Dojo in Tokyo and observe the Grand Master Hironori Otsuka II teaching classes for the day.

There is value in quality instruction. Through his many years of experience in teaching with David Deaton, to his hard work and dedication to achieve his college degree while doing so, Mr. McCormac has maintained discipline and integrity. His love and passion for Wado-Ryu Karate bought him to where he is today, the founder and owner of his own school, New Visions Martial Arts.
